After the Buffalo and Uvalde shootings, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called an emergency session of the House Judiciary Committee to push through a gun control law, this one named the “Protecting Our Kids Act” (POKA). This legislative proposal will accomplish nothing in “protecting our kids” and even Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler admitted it “wouldn’t accomplish much.”
The POKA outlaws mags that hold over 5 rounds; establishes “safe storage” requirements for firearms kept at home; raises the age to purchase semi-auto rifles from 18 to 21; and bans bump stocks. There isn’t one specific in the bill that protects children from shooters at a school. Nothing in the bill would “harden” the target-rich environment made possible by the radicals’ foolhardy “Gun Free Zones”. It contains no provision for the voluntary arming of qualified teachers or staff, or for the presence of armed guards. It only contains restrictions on law-abiding gun owners.
The most dangerous phrase to this Republic is, “But we have to DO SOMETHNG!”
In this case, the “do something” is always the *wrong* thing. Our right to protect our lives and rights is inherent to our being, given to us by God, not government.
Biden infamously said, “The Second Amendment, like all other rights, is not absolute.” He is 100% wrong. ALL rights that God has given to man are absolute and therefore cannot be taken away by ANY government, no matter who thinks “change is good.” Our Founders stated so, emphatically. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the Creator. In the meantime, our Constitution is law.
How to stop mass shooters? The answer is not to restrict law-abiding citizens, it’s to heal our sick, sinful, depraved culture. That is where the sick, depraved shooters come from, not the NRA.
